The Honorees are nominated by an Independent Election Committee made up of members representing a wide range of economic interests in the Greater Sacramento Area.
About Hall of Fame On May 7, 2009, the 5th, Annual Greater Sacramento Area Business Hall of Fame had its cocktail reception and dinner at The Arden Hills Country Club and Spa Resort. At this event the business community gathered to honor the Business Hall of Fame Laureates. Prior to being given their award, each recipient was introduced by a video vignette and by a Junior Achievement Student Ambassador, who shared their impressions of “his or her” Laureate. The Junior Achievement of Sacramento Board of Directors were also present to honor the Laureates. The purpose and intent of the Great Sacramento Area Business Hall of Fame event is to honor prominent business leaders who have made extraordinary contributions to the Greater Sacramento Area, earned the respect of the local community and called attention to the Free Enterprise System and to its value to our community and citizens in shaping our local way of life. To be considered as a Business Hall of Fame Laureate, the individual’s record of achievement demonstrates excellence in the following categories: · Business Excellence and Enduring Impact · Entrepreneurial Spirit · Courageous Thinking and Action · Inspiring Leadership · Community Mindedness The Laureates are nominated and ultimately chosen by an Independent Selection Committee. Committee members represented a wide range of economic interests of the Greater Sacramento Area. In 2007, thirty-four nominations were submitted and reviewed by the Committee. Each Committee member presented his or her nominee (s) to the whole committee, after which the committee voted on the candidates. By honoring these esteemed leaders, we hope to encourage and inspire young people to make a career in business and contribute to their communities as those persons inducted into the Hall of Fame have done. The proceeds raised from the Greater Sacramento Area Business Hall of Fame will help fund the business and economic education of students in the Greater Sacramento Area through innovative programs offered by Junior Achievement of Sacramento.
